Our purpose is to liberate through nutrition: to give people across Africa the nutrients they need to thrive, through the foods they already eat.
02Why the staple
The staple is the delivery system.
Everyone eats bread, porridge, sugar and oil, every day, without a clinic, a campaign or a change of habit. If the nutrient is in the staple, it reaches everyone. There is no better vehicle to nourish a nation than the foods it already eats.
At the mill.
Millhouse International engineers the blend so the staple can carry it: dosed to the country's standard, stable through the mill, invisible on the plate. The precision belongs here.
In the house.
The name is the route. Mill, where the staple is made and the blend is dosed; house, where it is eaten. The purpose belongs here, and the line Liberation Through Nutrition names what happens between the two.

Fuel knowledge
Training centres and knowledge partners share what works, through hands-on training for mills, regulators and programmes across Africa, with leaders in food security and nutrition.
Fortify foods
Millhouse applies global expertise to the formulation of vitamin and micronutrient blends, and supports its clients with the dosing equipment and software that make a superior end product measurable.
Feed people
Foundations and NGOs that share our purpose put fortified staple foods on children's plates, in South Africa first.
04A continental responsibility
Nutrition is infrastructure.
Fortifying staple foods is one of the most cost-effective public-health interventions open to an African nation. It is also the quietest. We do not market it loudly; we build it, every day, from KwaZulu-Natal to Nigeria.
When sugar carries vitamin A, when maize carries iron, when oil carries vitamin D, children grow, adults work, economies expand. The unit of measurement is not the kilogram. It is potential, realised.
05In the house
Hospitals and schools in Zimbabwe.
In August 2020, in partnership with Tongaat Hulett, Millhouse distributed 30 tonnes of vitamin-enriched porridge to hospitals and schools in Zimbabwe, a delivery attended by the country's First Lady. In Malawi, a turnkey premix plant installed for Illovo Sugar in 2019 lets a national producer fortify its own sugar for several mills.
